It seems that the fame of The Shelbourne is equal to the fame of many of its visitors. Princess Grace loved her visits, and a suite was named after her. The Empress of Austria has frequented the premises, as have many other royal dignitaries, famous contemporaries and classical writers (George Moore, Oscar Wilde, Thackery, and Joyce, and Elizabeth Bowen). The constitution of the Irish Free State was drafted in one of the conference rooms and was presided over by none other than Michael Collins.
